Phonics Reading is fun and enjoyable. Career parents or young parents face time constraints to teach their children to read. Therefore IIUM Educare Kindergarten is the right choice to send your children to recognize sounds, blending words, then read and write. Why recognizing sounds be the main point as preparation for reading and writing? Reading should be combined with visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile learning.

 

 

 

Besides that, Phonics reading involves matching the sounds with letters or groups of letters too. For example, the sound of k can be spelled as c, k, ck, or ch. Moreover, according to Shultz & Vouloumanos, 2010 on research Reading instruction-Phonic reading is starts in infants where they hear the sound from the environment or their parents. For example, infants find speech interesting to listen to and prefer it to other kinds of sounds.

 

Strategies for Phonics reading

There are a few strategies to achieve phonics reading among young children. Our teachers will encourage our students in pre-reading.

•  Combine methods with teaching strategies
• Provide the right classroom accommodations,
• Provide particularly classroom accommodations for students who have specific learning differences.  
• Be patient to avoid any negative associations with school and learning.
• Teach children to blend the sounds of letters
• Together with them decode unfamiliar words by sounding them out.

 

For example, when a child is taught the sounds for the letters t, p, a, and s, they can start to build up the words: “tap”, “taps”, “pat”, “pats” and “sat”. Furthermore, phonic reading will also help children know which letters to use once they understand the phonic reading. Finally, they will ready to write words.
