The Islamic Calendar Month of Rajab.
Ahlan wasahlan ya Rajab the month in the Islamic Calendar. We are blessed that we are now in the month of Rajab. Teacher’s has outlined activities with the children to enliven this glorious month. Moreover, it is the seventh months in the Islamic Calendar. Its name is derived from the classical Arabic verb “Rajab” which means ‘to respect’. Furthermore, the Prophet said ” Rajab is the month of absolution, so seek forgiveness from Allah. It is the month of Isra Mikraj, the journey of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.
Allah (s.w.t) says in the Quran:
“Verily, the number of months with Allah is twelve months (in a year), so was it ordained by Allah on the Day when He created the heavens and the earth; of them four are sacred (i.e. the 1st, the 7th Rajab), the 11th and 12th months of the Islamic Calendar). That is the right religion, so wrong not yourselves therein” [al-Tawbah 9:36]
Istighfar more often in the Month of Rajab
During this month IIUM Educare teachers encourage the children to recite Istighfar more often. Besides that, teachers explain the benefit of Istighfar to the children. One of the benefit is it is the best month in The Islamic Calendar to purify our hearts. As well as that is the time for us to seek repentance InshaaAllah.
In addition, we also train our children to pray and talk about the benefits of the month of Rajab. This effort is to provide early exposure to children before the advent of the glorious month of Ramadan. Apart from that also, our teachers shared the benefits of giving Sadaqah and Sunnah practices during this glorious month.
